HIDDENFJORD | Computerized feeding system

In salmon pens, much like in other animal groups, a distinct feeding hierarchy exists. Larger and more dominant salmon enjoy preferential access to feed pellets, potentially leaving smaller or less dominant salmon with inadequate access to nourishment, thus affecting their growth.

To address this challenge and ensure optimal growth for every salmon, Hiddenfjord employs an innovative computerized feeding system. Positioned a few meters below the water surface in each pen, an automatic pellet detector, equipped with underwater cameras and sensors, captures crucial data. This detector communicates with the system to adjust or halt feeding when all salmon have received sufficient nourishment.

Overseeing this advanced system are our feeding managers stationed at our remote feeding central on land. These experts have the capability to fine-tune feeding schedules and quantities based on real-time data, ensuring a balanced and equitable distribution of food.

Beyond promoting fair access to food which ensures optimal growth for all salmon, this automated feeding system also plays a pivotal role in preventing overfeeding and the potential pollution of the seabed.
