The Faroe Islands Commercial Diving School has expanded its training program with the ability to certify divers in commercial diving using NITROX. Gas‑mix diving, such as diving with NITROX, provides divers with opportunities to plan and carry out their dives in a completely different — and often significantly safer — way compared to diving with regular air.

One of the primary challenges associated with standard air as a breathing gas is its high content of nitrogen. Nitrogen is the gas responsible for causing decompression sickness, commonly known as “the bends,” among divers. By adjusting the gas mixture and reducing the nitrogen content, NITROX diving can lower the risk of decompression-related issues and improve overall dive safety.
The NITROX course is designed as an advancement of the Surface-Supplied Diver Certification, in accordance with Article 9 of Regulation No. 103 from 2009 and related legislation.
