A major step has been taken toward expanding the Port of Strendur, as Sjóvar Municipality has signed a formal agreement with Sp/f Rókin to construct a new pier at Hulki.
At its most recent meeting, the municipal council approved the development of a 100-meter-long pier connecting the existing structures at Hulki. This expansion will increase the port area by approximately 2,500 square meters, significantly enhancing its capacity and operational potential.
The agreement was officially signed this morning at the municipal office by Jákup Martin Kjeld, CEO of Sp/f Rókin, and Hans Anders Jacobsen, Mayor of Sjóvar Municipality.
Construction is set to begin as soon as all necessary permits are in place, with completion expected in the third quarter of 2026.
This development marks a key milestone in strengthening the infrastructure of the Port of Strendur, supporting future growth in maritime activity and regional logistics.
