In its trading update for the second quarter, Bakkafrost announced a total harvest of 29,900 tonnes of salmon during the period from April to June. Of this, 26,700 tonnes were harvested in the Faroe Islands, while 3,200 tonnes were harvested in Scotland.
The results demonstrate that the Faroese operations remain the company’s main growth driver, providing stable and consistent production. At the same time, efforts continue to develop and strengthen operations in Scotland.
Bakkafrost reported that it recorded an exceptional loss of DKK 32 million during the second quarter, related to increased fish mortality in its Scottish sea-farming operations.
However, the company continues to implement measures aimed at improving performance and strengthening production in the region.
Despite the challenges in Scotland, the production figures highlight Bakkafrost’s strong foundation and its important position within the global salmon farming industry. The company will present its full second-quarter report on August 31.
