Did you know that it takes around 30 months to raise a salmon?
Our salmon spend 20 months in our hatchery on land and 10 months in pens at sea.
In 2010, they spent 10 months on land and 20 months at sea.

In fact, we’re proud to have been the first salmon farming company in the world to produce larger smolt sizes that were previously non-existent. This work started in 2010. Since then, we have been frontrunners in the entire salmon farming industry in growing large smolt.
While producing large smolt on land is challenging, we believe it’s worth it for the sake of animal welfare and to ensure sustainable farming.
Our innovative approach has drawn great interest from salmon farmers all over the world. We have visitors from far and wide come to the Faroe Islands to learn about our work.
