P/F Varðin announced today that Bogi Jacobsen and the company's board of directors have mutually agreed that he will step down as CEO of the company.

Jacobsen has served as CEO of P/F Varðin since 2020, overseeing one of the Faroe Islands' leading fishing companies during a period of continued development and growth. The board expressed its gratitude for his significant contribution and dedicated service to the company over the past six years.

Pending the appointment of a new chief executive, Sámal Joensen, the company's Technical Manager, will assume the role of interim CEO. The board has now initiated the process of recruiting a permanent successor.

Bogi Jacobsen took over as CEO of P/F Varðin on 1 August 2020. Prior to his appointment, he served as Managing Director of the group's subsidiary, Varðin Pelagic in Tvøroyri. He has also been a member of the board of P/F Varðin since 2014.

Jacobsen comes from a family with deep roots in the Faroese fishing industry. He is the son of Jákup Jacobsen, widely known as "Dunga-Jákup", who led the Varðin group for many years and played a key role in its development.

Today, the P/F Varðin group operates a fleet that includes some of the Faroe Islands' most prominent pelagic vessels, including Tróndur í Gøtu, Finnur Fríði, Gøtunes, and Tummas T. The group also has ownership interests in Varðin Pelagic, one of the country's largest fish processing companies, which produces and exports pelagic fish products to markets around the world.

The announcement marks a leadership transition for one of the Faroe Islands' most influential fishing companies as it begins the search for its next chief executive.
