The Faroese shipyard MEST has successfully completed the replacement of both the main engine and the auxiliary engine on the fishing vessel Olga Maria—a project that showcases the high level of technical expertise and engineering craftsmanship found in the Faroe Islands.
The comprehensive operation involved not only installing the new engines but also carrying out a series of important upgrades and modernizations throughout the vessel.
These improvements ensure that Olga Maria is equipped with more efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly systems as it returns to service.

The work required precision, advanced mechanical skills, and deep knowledge of maritime engineering—areas in which Faroese technicians and engineers continue to excel. The project is yet another example of how local competence and innovation support the fishing fleet with world‑class technical solutions.
Below are images from the installation process, as well as photos of Olga Maria making her way up Tangafjørður last week following the successful upgrade.
