Construction of the new dry dock in Skála is progressing according to plan, with recent work focused on establishing a temporary cofferdam to ensure that the project can continue in dry conditions. The pelagic vessel Norðborg will be docked in Tórshavn for the next 6 months while the factory is replaced. Jón Rasmussen, chairman of the board at Christian í Grótinum, says to the Faroese KVF that replacing the factory is absolutely necessary.  The job was put out to tender, and MEST won the contract in competition with foreign shipyards. The hull of the freezer trawler Dunga Jákup , built at the Stocznia Wisła shipyard in Gdansk, Poland , was launched and officially handed over earlier this week.
