The hull of the freezer trawler Dunga Jákup, built at the Stocznia Wisła shipyard in Gdansk, Poland, was launched and officially handed over earlier this week.
A small ceremony marked the occasion, attended by representatives from Varðin and MEST in Gdansk. Photos from the event show the celebrations at the shipyard.
Once the hull arrives in the Faroe Islands, it will be completed at MEST in Skála. The tow is expected to take around 10 days, depending on weather conditions.
The vessel is scheduled for delivery to Varðin in the summer of 2026.
