MEST participates in the Scottish Skipper Expo 2026

MEST Shipyards is showcasing its extensive expertise at the Scottish Skipper Expo 2026, and welcomes attendees to Stand F8, where they can explore state-of-the-art new builds, vessel conversions, and specialized repairs tailored for the commercial fishing and aquaculture sectors.

A major highlight for this year at MEST is the upcoming 150-meter long dry dock in Skála, set for completion in October 2026, which will significantly expand their capacity to service the largest trawlers. The new dock is designed to handle modern wide-beam vessels and larger processing ships that previously had to travel further south for maintenance.

MEST has established itself as a pioneer in green maritime technology, focusing on fuel efficiency and hybrid propulsion. In 2022, MEST delivered the Grønarók, the Northern Hemisphere's first 100% battery-driven catamaran workboat for the aquaculture industry.

They specialize in "Silent-R" class vessels, such as the research ship Jákup Sverri, which utilizes extremely low underwater noise radiation to minimize environmental impact.

They recently collaborated to install one of the world's most advanced automated pelagic factory decks on the 81-meter trawler Nordborg, covering everything from sorting to palletizing.
