Effo strengthens its presence in Denmark through acquisition of Hirtshals companies

Effo has acquired Hirtshals Marineolie and Hirtshals Fiskernes Handelsselskab, strengthening its position in Denmark and expanding its fuel storage capacity, supply capabilities, and service offering.

The acquisition took effect on 15 September 2026.

The transaction has been completed through Carl Jensens Marinelager, which Effo owns together with local business partners in Hirtshals. As part of the acquisition, Carl Jensens Marinelager will be renamed Effo Danmark, and all of Effo’s Danish operations will henceforth be conducted under this name.

Effo already has a strong foundation in Hirtshals, and the acquisition significantly reinforces its activities in the area. Effo Danmark now gains access to larger fuel storage facilities, bunker vessels, and tanker trucks, providing the company with greater capacity to deliver a broader and more flexible service to customers both at sea and on land.

The merger also creates opportunities to leverage expertise and capacity across the combined business and, over time, to expand both the range of products and services offered in Denmark.

With the establishment of Effo Danmark, the company’s Danish activities will be brought together under a single brand and a stronger operational platform for future growth.
