The vessel will be taken over early next year and converted into a self-discharging ship. The plan is for the ship to transport fish feed for the aquaculture industry abroad. A blowing system for delivering fish feed will be part of the conversion.

The vessel will be equipped with advanced technology that reduces CO2 emissions by 20% while sailing. Bonacieux was built in 2010 and has a cargo capacity of nearly 3,000 tons.

- the company has experienced increasing demand from abroad, and this is part of its growth strategy, says CEO Jørgin Jacobsen.

The vessel will be registered in the Faroese International Ship Register (FAS), which is well suited for international cargo transport.

This will be the 6th vessel for the traditional company in Fuglafjørður, which also operates a sand sales business in Sund and a feed storage facility in Toftir.

When the new vessel enters service, SANDSHIP will employ more than 80 people.
