SMJ | Opening of Háafell´s new hatchery at Nauteyri

It’s been great to see the new hatchery at #Nauteyri officially opened some two weeks ago.

SMJ congratulates #Háafell and everyone involved. This is an exciting step for the aquaculture industry in the #Westfjords.

SMJ´s journey with #Háafell began in 2021, during the pandemic, when people from SMJ travelled to the #Westfjords and were stuck in quarantine for nine days due to bad weather that delayed the transport of COVID tests. At the time, the long quarantine was difficult, but it has become a good memory of how our relationship with Háafell started.

Since then, SMJ has been part of the process from early planning to construction, and along the way, many good memories and friendships have been formed.
