The Faroe Islands Mark World Maritime Day

Once again this year, the Faroese Maritime Authority is marking World Maritime Day, an initiative by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), by illuminating its building in blue.

The Faroe Islands comply with all relevant IMO conventions concerning maritime safety, environmental protection and education and training at sea.

The Faroe Islands have been a member of the IMO since 2002/2003. The Faroese Maritime Authority is responsible for implementing IMO regulations into Faroese legislation and ensuring that these regulations are followed.

By marking World Maritime Day, the Faroese Maritime Authority highlights the Faroe Islands’ commitment to safety, environmental protection and high standards within the maritime sector.
