The workboat Slættanes, owned by the aquaculture company Hiddenfjord, has spent several weeks in the KJ shipyard dock hall in Klaksvík for upgrades to meet new FMA requirements, as well as general maintenance and inspection work. The vessel, which is KJ’s newbuilding number 17, was originally built in 2017 and measures 13 metres in length and 6 metres in width.
Slættanes is primarily used at the aquaculture site at Fútaklettur in Vágar, an area known for challenging conditions with strong currents, large swells, and harsh weather. The vessel’s home port is registered in Sandavágur.
Following the overhaul, Slættanes now appears as good as new. Maintenance and upgrades have been carried out on various systems, including the bilge system and safety equipment. The most visible change is the vessel’s fresh coat of paint in Hiddenfjord’s characteristic green colour.
The workboat was relaunched on Tuesday, 10 February, and this morning—12 February—she set course westward again, heading back out in favourable weather.
