Smyril Line named company of the year 2026

Smyril Line has been named Company of the Year 2026, receiving the award at Business Day in the Nordic House.

The award recognizes the company's strong financial performance, significant investments, and long-term commitment to renewal and growth.

Over recent years, Smyril Line has carried out a broad transformation of its business. Investments have included major upgrades to Norröna, the acquisition of two new 190-metre, more energy-efficient cargo vessels, expansion of its hotel operations, and improvements to terminal and warehouse facilities. The company has also strengthened its presence in Iceland and expanded its hospitality offering.

The judging panel highlighted Smyril Line's ability to deliver solid results while simultaneously making substantial investments that will support future growth and competitiveness.

Today, the company employs nearly 600 people across several countries and has developed into an international business with strong Faroese roots.

In selecting Smyril Line as Company of the Year 2026, the panel emphasized the company's successful combination of long-term strategic vision, operational excellence, and continued investment in the future.
